I live in OB and the point loma kelp has been my main fishing spot for a while now. As it's been said the cliffs are very unreliable and wide open to the surf. I don't mind getting a little wet on the way out but the real problem is how much the surf changes with the tide. Some times your waiting on high tide to get back in.

1, Cable/Orchard is good if your solo because of the ramp but it has the biggest most steady break.

2 Bermuda st beach is great if you have someone to help carry your yak down the steps.

3 The rock outcropping next to the bird shit rock (no surf) is easy if it's supper flat. Again you need someone to help you carry your yak to the water.

PM if you ever want to launch together...I'm always looking for someone to help me with my yak too.
