Dana Point 10/24

Quick report for Dana.
Took my buddy out for his first yak fishing trip and met my dad on the water. Launched out of Doheny kind of late at 0930 due to the 57 freeway closure. Couple of juvenile bonies by the harbor mouth, so we headed to the pipe.
Found a nice little hole where anything and everything I dropped was hit within seconds. Pulled up a bunch of macs, calicos anywhere from baby 4" to my biggest fish of the day (12" or so), a few jacksmelt, and a couple of lizardfish. Random little mixed bag of goodies and my buddy and dad were excited to be catching anything. We each flylined a mac for a few hours but nothing seemed to notice it. Landed easily around 1630 and called it a day.
Nothing better than fishing with friends and family.

Heck yeah. Can't disagree with catching. Thanks for the report.

Good job finding that area that produced. Were you throwing Krocs and swim baits?

Something big hit my dad's kroc, but he forgot to adjust the drag on his brand new reel. Broke him off after a few runs. I was throwing a 5 inch z-mad paddler in white, and a big hammer in pacific mackerel. Should've tried my kroc as well but was having too much fun pulling up the random little guys.
