Hi Ed, how did it go? I plan to do the same tomorrow. Do you ever go out on Mondays? (I'm off on Mondays.)

Slow for me today. Only 4 shorts. Harry Hill did better.

As far as Monday's go, that was my fishing day for years. Unfortunately now it's Fridays.

Good time Ed, great to meet you. Thanks for letting me follow you around the harbor. I'm still laughing about you telling me I'm not ready for La Jolla when I fell getting out of my yak in calm water. Once these new knees get working that won't be a problem.

Cool

My pleasure Harry. Wish there had been some current to make the fish a little more active.

Glad my dry sense of humor didn't go unnoticed. We'll fish again soon.

My fishing buddy and I are going to give Newport a try on Sunday. What were you using for the spotties? I was thinking of trying some jerk baits as well as some weedless plastics,

Any recommendations? It's been a while since I've fished Newport.

I got my 5 on small plastics on Warbait heads. 3" Edge Flurries in minnow magic got 2. 4" zman paddlerz in smokin shad got 2. 5" Paddlerz in new penny got the last one. Hot Sauce for flavor.

Despite the 5' tide swing we had almost no current. I think with some movement they would've bit.

I think it might be time for a night mission.

I got most of mine on 3" white Zoom Flukes with a 3/8 bullet head jig. I got a couple on a swim bait Amish Ed gave me in a green color, same jig heads. Not weedless so the eel grass was a problem but I was still catching fish so it wasn't too bad. One of the fish fought much bigger than he turned out to be so he got me pretty excited.
