Lobster season opener - Kayak Fishing Adventures on Big Water’s Edge

Dove mission bay this morning. Poor conditions and viz... Lots of bugs. Most were right at the limit with some solid ones as well. We got 3 good keepers and released 3 times that many which were barely short. Saw some good size bugs real shallow. No huge ones though.

Dove shell beach to children's pool. Surgy, 1-10' viz depending. Got in at 0040, out at 0200. 1 legal each, let a few clickers go. Lost two nice ones while measuring. Got checked by a friendly dfw warden

Not a bad night for my first time diving for CA lobster. Still really weird thinking they don't have claws to worry about.

Took my son out and hit middle breakwater long beach, got 2 small legal and a 4 1/2lb pounder. Opening night is always tough, you miss the first crawl starting that late.
