My turn!

Launched around 6:30am on Friday with my buddy. Luckily wind was not blowing like Thursday and waves were small. Made bait near the kelp but no green backs! Saw someone already hooked up and just started Trillin Spanish macs I had. For some time nothing was happening and decided to make some more bait and was able to get 2 greenies. Pinned one on and 2minutes later wham! But lost that one to my stupid mistake....I thumbed the spool on its last run near the kayak...yeah I was too eager to have that first yellow on board. Re-tied and pinned last greenie and 5 minutes later I'm on again. About 20minutes later and a broken rod, I gaffed my first yellowtail from a kayak on board. What an experience! Thanks to all for your inspiration and help! Over the past year I made total of 5 trips down to La Jolla and the 5th one was the charm. Thanks to monsterfish for the pic at the shore.
27.6lbs on my bathroom scale. 38" long.

Phenix 808mh. I've hooked and landed many yellowtails before but this was my first on the kayak. It was a very special experience to catch the yellowtail that close to the water.

Nice!! I suggest you get yourself a pair of waders so you don't look like the chainsaw murderer as your walking back to get your car.
