Thanks for the replies guys.
Your input is appreciated. I think I'll pick up at least one. ![]()

They're great reels Mike.
Think of it this way…the 20 and the 30 are the same spool diameter, with the 30 being a fraction wider. Same thing with the 40 and the 50. Solid performers, can take a hell of a beating, easily maintained, and very affordable, especially when 40% off retail. I ran them for years before I switched over the lever drags. Now my brother owns them all. I have one Daiwa, a Saltist 40, on my jigstick for surface irons, and that's just because I can cast a star drag much further than I can cast a lever drag, and I run straight mono.

I hear that new Penn Fathom lever drag, open spindle, casts just as well if not better than the star drags. I have yet to try one, but I do plan on buying one. I have several of the Fathom star drags, and I'm very happy with them. But for a budget yak reel the Sealines can't be beat.

X2, the sealine used to be required equipment for yakkers. Both my 40+ YT came in on the 40xha.
The stock drags are crap, they get sticky really quick. When you buy the reel, get the carbontex drags and replace the stock ones. As you do this, spread a very thin layer of grease on all the internal surfaces of the reel. That will keep all the salt from building up and you will have a kick ass yak reel for years to come. Assuming the clicking doesn't drive you crazy and force you to sell all your sealines so you can buy saltists. |
