Lj feb 7

Met up with the boys of OKFD and an old wartime vet. Saw my old friend Jabba at the launch and got my usual greeting from him. Made Some Spanish and green backs and slowly got raped by seals. Got a hit at 200 ft busted me off after a 3 min run for it's life , then had to put up with a bunch of radio chatter about a kayaker whining about not getting a yellowtail. Fogged rolled in hard, threw the iron and fished with some squid for nada. Got back to the launch and heard someone wanted to sumo wrestle me or hire some one to sumo wrestle me. So I want to the store to get some 4x diapers for Jaba but he left by the time I came back.

Thanks for the confirmation. I was gonna go out today, but with the previous weeks reports, I took a rain check (love the weekend warriors). Lol on the whiner. I thought everyone that launches at la Jolla is promised at least 1 yellowtail. When did that change?

Jabba? Isn't that the big slug-looking thing that princess Leia choked out in Star Wars?

For a second, when you said you went to the store, the first thing I thought was you were going to buy yellowtail!

Can't get em every time. But, you can never get em while sitting at home. Thanks for report.

Thanks for the report...the radio chatter was entertaining.
Sorry you didn't get that one today (3 min. run was probably keep away from a seal!).
Did you try and ?

Add "whining kayak angler" to the many reasons not to bother listening to radio chatter. Mike

Hating life right now

Spent yesterday getting ready to hit La Jolla today. Last night , checked the weather and saw the wind was going to blow and there were high surf warnings so I decided not to go.
This morning I checked the web cam and it doesn't look that bad. "SHOULD HAVE GONE"

For those that did go, how about a report on the conditions

I'm in MB right now and it's too windy to even fish in sail bay. Was beautiful at about 8am. Wind really picked up after 10am. Had two short bass and a short halibut early on.

Also. Webcam is only the surf and does not convey what's going on out in open water which was very different.

It was beautiful until about 10:30 when the wind machine cranked up. Luckily we were already doing the happy paddle/pedal back by that time . Fish bit iron and bait today, just like yesterday, (and probably most the days before that).
