Missing Malibu kayaker

I read yesterday that there was a missing kayaker off Malibu. Has anyone heard anything about his status?

check the weather before you fish! If people keep having to get rescued like this I'm pretty sure it will result in some type of restrictions for the rest of us in the future. I've put in a lot of time Kayakfishing over the past decade, and frankly don't want my fishing F$&ked up because some newbs are to lazy to check the weather.

I agree. I can envision a day, like hikers that trespass "closed" trails or ones "Off limits" and get lost are billed for the cost of the rescue services, Kayakers getting billed for rescue services, not out of the question (as debated in the case of hikers, not considered an essential emergency service that applies to the overall general public), leave it to our state legislators to find a way to recover costs to balance the budget (lifeguard, harbor patrol & CG).

Before you attempt to beat the odds, be sure you can survive the odds beating you.

I mean seriously people. Haven't we learned our lessons by now with those kayakers getting blown out to sea in Malibu a while back. Which was on the news as well if I'm correct. All the talk of how unsafe it is to be out there in the wind has been all over this board lately. And if we all haven't downloaded a decent weather app yet, then get with the program. We love our fellow yakers. There should be a sticky thread on here just to teach those who don't know how dangerous wind can be. Please be safe out there!!
