Sorry was joking... I would launch from the boat launch at the harbor. Easy and can avoid some of the nasty surf the beaches can have. If you don't want to pay just park on street and haul your kayak next to pier to launch.

Be careful exiting the harbor as the tide movement causes some nasty looking swells. As for fishing head straight out of harbor and point your nose to the 3rd and 4th oil rig until you get to 70-90 feet. Halibut zone as well as rock piles along the way.

Good luck, if we end up ignoring our local yellowtail bite will head up to join you.

How ironic, I'm traveling the third week of February for work too and I was wondering if I'd get a chance to fish up there. Turns out, we're only staying one day and flying back. I'm going to San Leandro though, right up by San Fran. I bet that bay is prime halibut territory!
