Christmas parade?

I know it's a little early...but...I received this email today and thought I'd share it...any interest ?
It's from John at the WSB growout tanks in Redondo.
"Jim, John Whitaker here. I was at a planning meeting for the KH Christmas boat parade last night. They want to get a kayak division to enter. Last year they added stand up paddle boards and had many entry's. Do you know of a kayak club in our area to contact. Or would you be interested in representing the group. There is another meeting next Tues at KHYC to discuss the sups and yaks."

Tuesday meeting

Thanks for the replies...Either John or I will attend the KHYC meeting tonight and I'll report back.
With a 600 lbs capacity the Hobie PA's should be fun to rig up with some lights and a display!

info

Ok...here's some info to share...

Paddlecraft Community - Input Needed for the 2014 King Harbor Holiday Boat Parade
What: Join us for an informal forum where members of the paddlecraft community (SUPs, kayaks, outrigger canoes) can help provide feedback to the 2014 Boat Parade committee. The event committee was thrilled to have almost 50 SUPs compete in 2013. The SUPs competing for the first time greatly enhanced the event.

Your input is needed as we discuss ways to improve the event for both participants and spectators. We will be discussing the following:
- Adding SUP-specific award categories
- SUP parade route, gathering point and finish
- Identification (means) for judging
- Other logistical and safety concerns

When: Tuesday, August 19 -- 6:30 pm (social) & 7:00 pm (meeting)
Where: King Harbor Yacht Club (upper deck), 280 Yacht Club Way, Redondo Beach, 90277
Pizza provided & cash bar available. RSVP not required.

Boat Parade date: Saturday, December 13
Boat Parade theme: KING HARBOR LIGHTS
Boat Parade Grand Marshal: Fritz Coleman - comedian, NBC-4 meteorologist

What's New:
Specialized workshops featuring experts on boat parade lighting/electrical, sound, & creative concepts
Patron Party with Live/Silent Auction, November 20, promoting participation & charitable fundraising
Stand-up paddleboard parade during daylight hours immediately prior to boat parade (last year there were nearly 50 SUPs!)
Plans for bleachers around the harbor to increase capacity for more public viewing
Plans for a professional, live telecast via radio, cable TV and/or internet
