I would suggest a few things that will be more important.

Practice launching at Leo which is near county line. Not sure what have you the idea to try that as first launch.

Practice casting sitting down in the park with a tennis ball or a torpedo sinker

Search the forum here as you will find everything already discussed a few times plus get to read some entertaining pissy matches about asking for squid locations etc

Btw not sure why you flipped but I would not recommend bringing a toddler and a puppy when you head out. Adds to much weigh and could be why you flipped. I could be wrong.
