I was up in Sitka and the Lings for non-residents have to be between 30"-36" or over 56". We were fishing for halibut on a spot that is good for Ling by-catch, but by the end of the day we were like "damn, it's another one of these pesky four foot lings. And I've got to reel the damn thing up 415 feet."

Luckily my uncle is a resident and we got to keep at least one. Oh and 3 of the four of us caught the one halibut we were allowed (after we had limited out on king salmon).
