I think it would have 2 advantages over the tin can and zodiac:

1. You could launch like a kayak, like from any beach, rather then from a boat ramp like you would have to in a tin can or a zodiac.

2.You could load it on your roof as opposed to have a trailer

I am looking into getting one, just don't know if I want the hassle of motors, gas, and registration

One of the things going against it is there is only 1 testimonial on it in the salt, hawaii.
Even the video doesn't show any salt action
I'd need to see it on a surf launch plowing through some waves

Looks like it would be great in the bays and even harbors but anything with some wave action greater than 2ft it looks like trouble.
Even with a spray skirt
If you look at the design, the air intake and exhaust are sooooo low
1 good wave to the chest or 1 mini rogue wave on the stern look like it would kill the engine
