Not a good idea. Learn how to paddle your kayak in the bay first and then take it in the waves. Why would you take your kayak out in the surf when you don't even know how to paddle it? It's like driving on the freeway when you don't even know how to drive....and your driving stick. It's easy enough if you know how to do it...but if you don't...it might be ugly...

Start in the bay.
