ehh, thats a pretty bold move bud. definitely try the bay first. "relatively easy" is pretty relative...bay can get some chop and some waves too. get used to your kayak first. learn how it moves, how you balance in it, fishing from it, do EVERYTHING you can think of to feel absolutely comfortable before tackling the surf. you'll be much better off. if not, tie down and leash everything. good luck!
