You might consider a couple of Mission Bay to SD Bay paddles for a warm up this spring. Find out what pace you can maintain over a long distance in open waters.

Werd. I used to ride the Yamaha VFR from Dana to Avalon when nobody said I could... I guess this is just a little slower... and shorter... and less motorized! LOL
