Baja anyone?

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed
by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did.
So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor.
Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.
--- Mark Twain

At the start of time, Baja was created. Now as my life is slowing down, I realize more time needs to be spent in Baja. So I am throwing this out to the forum, Baja or bust! For 2014 I want to make at least 10 camping, fishing trips to Baja. So that means about a trip a month. Where to go in Jan, Feb, Mar, April to start. Best areas to fish those months, dates, where to stay on beach, how many people should be on each trip? But the biggest question, WHO wants to go! I will try to keep this all together for the whole year. If we can get this going we can all fish some great areas. Might be nice to do a couple family trips? Ideas and suggestions, anyone interested?

Yeah I thought those Baja trips would be awesome, and they are fun...but any fun you have will be negated by waiting in line to cross the border...

Gawd! that was a nightmare....

True waiting in line can be tough, but when coming back it just gets you ready for all the stress here.

Unless you are in possession of one of these!

Then the wait is 15 min max - my average is 10-12 min - once I got through in 30 seconds!

Make sure everyone in your vehicle has the credentials to use the express lane at the border. And try not to cross on Sun. nite.

Thats why I ride alone...

Always best to cross South Sunday/Monday and cross North Thursday/Friday - that way you are opposite the prevailing traffic...

I heard the survival knife doubles as a tooth brush for a true outdoorsman!

I'm interested in a baja trip. My schedule is so crazy I cant even consider when though. I'll be watching as this develops.

Can't wait til 2014. I'm headed to Bahia gonzaga mid Oct for a week or so. Solo trip at this point so if anyone's interested I'll be at campo beluga.

Keep me in the loop, Baja has always been on my list of stuff to do! I'm working on opening my own BBQ catering business in the next couple months and sometime soon quitting my full time job so hopefully next year I can make some free time to go being my own boss.

I was at the Bay Bass Tournament about 4 years ago and met Zach Thomas who wrote the book, "The Angler's Guide to Trailer-Boating Baja". I asked him what he thought was the best place to kayak fish in Baja.

He mentioned bahia asuncion.

I have wanted to go there ever since and I think I will do it next year. This makes it more fun if we can get a group together.

I could bring down my smoker and cook some slow cooked brisket or ribs.

Not so bad any more. I crossed on a Wednesday eve 3 weeks ago in about 15 minutes! Looks like the expansion is done with twice as many booths open and there are now express lanes for those who have passport cards. Get a passport card!
