Take him out to Dana or Newport. Teach him about kayaking. Practice self rescue. Look at the hot girls in bikinis. It's just not cool taking a first timer out to the big water like that.

Yes even launching at leo...1 mistake can end up in a very bad, bad, day...I mean come-on...the beach is absolutely covered in rocks! You screw up there your gonna be lucky to come out in 1 piece...not the place for a newbie.

Com-on Tony!!! It's not that bad

This year alone there's only been one ankle injury that we're aware of and one broken collar bone.

BTW, if you hurt your ankle at Leo Tony will help you carry your gear back up the stairs.

I recently launched at Leo on one of those "1' to 2' days," which turned out to be 4' to 6' no problem. I was lucky in only losing some cheap sunglasses, but that place can be quite dangerous. I've always started newbs out of Newport or another harbor if I just want to get them a taste of yak fishing. If you do start out of Leo make sure the GoPro is fully charged and upload immediately for "constructive criticism" please.
