Started out with Dive booties, but my feet sweated too much - that unbreathable neoprene is killer on a hot day. Then I went to the KSO five fingers like those above - they worked well, but are so lowcut that the top of my feet still sunburned.
Then I did my research and found out what the flats fishermen use in the tropics. Columbia Drainmaker shoes came super highly rated - made like tennis shoes, but designed for breathability and water use. Now my feet never get hot, and are completely covered for sun protection. When they get stinky, I just throw them in the washing machine. You can get them cheap right now, because they have been replaced by the newer PowerDrain line, I think I paid something like $40 at West Marine a month ago.
