Bassin fun 060113
I got a text from a Cpt. Nelson to see if I wanted to hook up with him on the water for some research fishing to locate some new spots and fish. We launched at 6 A.M. this morning and raced to our first spot. Fishing some Boilers in the area I get this guy to NAIL the bait right at the boat. Had I not had the drag loose he would have surly busted off on the hit. We motored out to fish some of the kelp ponds and James nailed this guy. So while James was throwing towards that kelp edge I dropped down to see what was lurking below and brought this guy to the party. Capt. Nelson landed a much larger Calico following this fish but he has that pic on his camera, he also has the Halibut that I caught back inside the bay. All of our fish were decent sized fish and there wasn't 1 junk fish caught today. We both farmed a really nice fish each while Boiler fishing. All in all it was a very nice research fishing trip. Thanks James for the text last night.

Thank you. I farmed one that would have easily been bigger than the pictured one.

No, but we should have. Capt. James hasn't posted the bigger bass that he caught but with we could have competed and probably placed in the top 10 with the sizes of fish we were catching.

Now that's the type of research that I can get into.
The ocean is your lab, and such nice instruments to be working with... Let us know where to sign up for an internship . Thanks for sharing. |
