July 5

Well loaded up and launched out of the pad around 4:30 hit the beach by 5 and paddled on out to the reserve. Made bait relatively quick and sent one high and one low.......not too much happening for the first hour or so. Decided to throw the surface iron for fun, just to break up the monotony of trolling bait and on the third cast I got just about the biggest greenback that I have ever seen, damn thing must have been close to 20-24" long and it actually pulled drag!! Had me laughing pretty damn hard as to the possibility of Macks as a game fish!

Sent Mr. Le big Mac on his way, and then my bottom rig gets railed, count it out and set the hook nice.....fish takes three good runs with head shakes, has me thinking yellow......only to find out a just barely legal WSB. Grabbed him by the hook and put him in the boat, he measured right around the 30" mark and was quickly revived and sent on his merry way to grow some more. Yes he was legal, but not legal enough to be filleted! Wind came up kinda quick after that and I headed on in, saw Jasmin, and Mark (?) from the Q105 trip and his buddy. Landed to tiny mixed up swells, and gave a hand to a gentleman that had to go help his lady!

Thanks for the report. Make a date for that released wsb for spring 2027. Should be well aged by then.
