People kayak and paddle board under the bridge to the middle lagoon all the time. I know what you read is the law but I've never seen it enforced. I'm not saying that it won't, will or, can't.
If your going to kayak fish in the lagoon : 1. Your supposed to have a permit. (Read posts above) 2. Stay in the passive area and out of the boating area. The areas are clearly marked by buoys. 3. Do not tie your kayak to a buoy while fishing. 4. Enforcement in winter is very rare. Enforcement in summer on weekends is a given. 5. If you happen to be out there and have the police boat come up to you you better have your fishing license or your screwed. Other than that they will MOST LIKELY tell you your breaking the rules and not write you a ticket. I have (and so have a lot of other people) fished there for years and never had a problem. Mike |

I live on the lagoon. You need a permit. They do check. I've been checked twice this winter. DFG will meet you at the different points of launch so be legal. Watch out for the ski boats, some don't like kayakers/paddleboards. Watch out for the jet skis, seems they like to get as close as they can in the hour they have it rented. Try to fish areas you don't see anyone fishing. It will pay off. There's a lane you'll see the kayakers fish in. It's picked over.
Please C&R (cept a legal halibut ![]() Please turn in poachers along the shoreline. Take their pictures of them. They hate that. |
