It's not cheap but that stuff lasts a long time. I payed about $85 to spool up my Torium 20 with braid and about 100 topshot mono.

If you want to save cash, spool it with some cheap mono. There is no reason to put 500 yards of spectra on there....

Put 300yards of fat 40lb mono then fill the rest wih spectra. You'll most likel never see the mono unless you're going for humbolt once a year.

I have no reels that hold more than 250yards. I walk into Charkbait with $25 and a reel and they usually fill up whatever reel with 65# JB/Cortland, depending what they have in stock

Mono+Spectra is your best bet for large reels when on a budget

I was "personable" with the gentleman spooling my reel at Sports Chalet.... 519 yds of 65# braid came out to 200 yds at $0.15 on my reciept. Some kind of Christmas miracle.

I gotta second what Drake said. 500 yards of spectra? I can see no application for that around here except maybe for deeeeep fishing for black gill rockfish on the back side of the lower 9 mile bank. Fill most of your reel with fat mono with 200 yards of braid over it and that will work fine. I doubt there would ever be a market for it but an after market spool with a large diameter would help with the use of braid. Mike
