Might be a left field idea but how about having it sandblasted with a less agressive media like walnut shell, corn cob, plastic grit or even baking soda. The type of paint used would determine the proper media. These media's wouldn't pit, warp or harm the plastic but may leave a dull, yet consistent finish. Just a thought.

camo paint on top of that, you could get really creative with the patterns.... just a thought...

Just keep coating it in different color paints whenever you feel like changing the color and let the next owner worry about it.

Just drag it on the sand a bit..
I dont think you want to use any paint strippers on it, may harm the plastic??
