Great report. The Islander and crew set the bar really high. I almost signed up Friday afternoon, my wife said I would have to choose between her and the trip, I told her I would miss her, then one of my kids demanded I surf with him more and fish less. Life is hell. lol

Adi;
thanks for putting on this trip. I had sworn off mothership trips after my first one 5 years ago on the a boat out of LA to Catalina. When I steped on the Islander my first thought was "damn, this is a nice sled". I can be very critical and somewhat picky, but I could not find anything, I mean NOT ONE Thing bad about this boat. Everything was done with the anglers comfort in mind. Hats off to the owners and crew of the ISLANDER ![]() I've always had great success at SCI. Fishing it from the yak may limit your mobility, but the experience was worth the risk. The water is beauttful blue. The Calis rule the Island. Every point the we set the hook held fish. Can't wait for the next trip. AC |

Yeah great job hoasting the trip Adi. And Art thanks for your help. I really appericated the tips you guys gave me.
The crew of the Islander defanatly earn their tips. (I would hate to have to load and unload all those kayaks) I hope that more and more people go on those trips I would hate for them to have to cancel because they can't fill up their dates. P.S. This is Patrick From Fresno |

As Adi said, it was a great trip. I wasn't targeting Calicos, but got 14 in all. They were mostly in
the 2-3lb range with several around 4lbs. Being optomistic, I tossed them all in hopes of getting some YT action. That never happened. However, I did land my first Halibut, though at 3.5lbs, it was puny and not a WCW contender. My 1st 'butt ![]() I did get another that was easily twice that size, but I missed it at the gaff, holding it on the side of the yak for about 2 minutes while I decided on a way to measure it... ...my net was inside the hatch and not accessible. I didn't want to gaff it, though now I know it was way over legal sized. Indecisiveness kills... Great trip. Thanks to Adi and Art for sharing some of their fishing knowledge. 13 hours on the water and hardly paddled at all, except for when I was traversing the beach for 'butt. |

I wish I could have made that trip. I'm hoping my back is better, so I can go on the 8 June trip. Even if the YT didn't cooperate, that still sounded like a good trip. Nice report Adi.
