I have found anchoring from a yak in deeper water to be tough. I've had the hook down at the artificial reefs in Oside and at the Buc beach pipe line. Both times there was a decent swell running. The yak would move and dip every time a swell rolled under me. I didn't have a real anchor trolly but I never anchored deep again. I fish bone fish and sharks in south sd bay and anchoring works just fine. I have a west marine folding anchor with 4 flukes on it that holds well. I also use about 10 feet of chain. Chain makes all the difference. for rockies you might be better just to find the spot in the FF and stay over it using paddles or peddles. Mike
