I got the mark-4 lets just say that thing is a beast. Next time I'll bring the sabiki... cause baitballs where everywhere.
I never catch anything off the AR I might just find 80ft of water and just drift. |

I was out on a charter saturday, in the wheel house w/ the skipper, listening to radio chatter, we did terrible, sounded like no one else getting bit...the guys are blaming the quick rise in temps, up here in Ventura they went from 63 up to bouncing off of 70 degrees in less than a week....maybe gonna get better here
soon...

When I lived in north county I used to fish O-side now and then. That area is real hit and miss. If they have chovies in the reciever the halibut fishing in the harbor can be pretty good. I used get the permit to fish on the marine corp side and always did better there. Once you leave the harbor it's a ways to any structure or kelp. The ARs, Buc Beach Pipe, down to the Army/Navy academy kelp, or north off Pendleton. I have caught plenty of bass and a few YT in all those locations but there were also plenty of long paddle for nothing. MIke

Sunday morning I paddled out to just off O'side pier. Bouncing of the bottom I hooked into something big as it loaded up it popped. Reeled in and only the head (sardine) was left? No sea lions in site... perhaps a stingray or ???? Never got a chance to feel any head shakes. Soon after I was getting good "raked" baits which was encouraging- but no sticks.. Awesome to be out on the water
