Thanks Guys. I guess I could live with being a bass fisherman, if the bycatch was always that fun

For those that asked, the reel is a tranx. Look online and used, and eventually they pop up alot cheaper than retail. I still had to sell 3 used cheaper reels to get it though I thought the white knob was cheezy, so i switched the knob out to the grey one from a Stella 20000. As far as a review, I can't say I'm sold on the reel yet. I think I can cast my old saltist farther. There are a TON on little tiny parts on the reel, so I'm not sure how it will hold up. I'm also not sold on the idea of having that much coin out on the yak either. I never was a leash guy before, but now I'm thinking I'll start. The levelwind is nice though, particularly while using spectra and making multiple casts. I'll give it a few more runs to see what the verdict is, my guess is that I'll probably sell and go back to a saltist or seagate. If I decide to sell, I'll give BWE first dibs

The rod was built by Steve Frazier, who goes by forefrazier on BWE.

He's one of the best custom stick guys around, and does super clean work. For pretty close to the cost of a factory rod, I was able to have one built to my exact specifications and with the components I wanted on it. My first custom stick, and I will never get one off the rack again.

Here is a link to the rod he built me.

Also from his profile, check out some of the other rods he's built. Ya, its a shameless plug for a friend, but check out his stuff.

The rod/reel combo was a bit overkill for the grade of fish I was catchng. I didn't have to edit out much, and even with the kelp I was well under 2 min start to finish.

Looks like the weather is staying good for the next few days, so hopefully the guys that are able to get out soon will get into some decent bass fishing.
