Hands down, the best site on teh interwebz is Alan Tani's site. This guy is a maintenance and modification genius. Browse his whole site, but here's a direct link to reel maintenance for a Penn 500 / 501

used to have a tackle shop close and they kept mine serviced for cheap,
but when they aren't too bad, I will do it, you can get most instructs on You tube...

Another vouch for Alan Tani. Tons of great insight and helpful tutorials. I do all mine very similar to his methods.
