yea, another FF thread .

in the search for a FF, read several of the post here and on yak4fish.
found the 385ci kayak combo(407680-1k), discontinued and was offered a discount if one was still available, but alas, noneski. zilch.
are there any FF that are yak specific or designed for kayak fishing?

Furuno FCV585 Color Fish Finder

hows this unit? how much money do you have to spend? this one is at dicks. the larger screen size is nice but has its trade off. more battery and weight. going light on a kayak can really pay off ,especially when you are on the water for more than 4- 6 hours. bigger units will have more features of course, but the cost can run you as much as a peddle drive hobie in itself. let me know if you want to buy mine used ? 898 si

this one?

http://www.lowrance.com/Products/Mar...-Chartplotter/

a larger screen is nice, and more features is nice too.

the discontinued kit looked simple and decent.

Lowrance

Humminbird

I love what my Elite-4 combo from Lowrance does, HOWEVER, if I had to do all over again, I'd go with a bigger unit like the HDS 7 GEN2 with the 50/200 ducer. Had this conversation with The Darkhorse before I purchased a FF, and he sort of warned me about screen size in a roundabout way, and I probably should have pondered it longer. Oh well, you live and learn. It's a great FF/GPS combo for sure, but a bigger screen would have been better.

FWIW, also Sitex and Standard Horizon make some killer stuff, too.

I'm waiting for BassPro to get the HDS5 back in stock. I bought it on 6-pay(hopefully everybody knows about that, if not, google it) and they price matched West Marine @ 699.00(sale ends tomorrow) for the nautic edition.

I too bought the Elite -4 combo and sold it shortly after doing so because I didn't like the Top/Bottom display of the screen, and it was a little smaller than I liked.

This, or a unit similar is what I'm going for next. I have the Black/White version of this and it's an older model. Many of the newer model Humminbird units come with Navionics installed on them. What I like about Bass Pro Shops is they offer the 6 month pay feature, makes it a lot easier to pay for one of these and not take the hit right up from and no interest fees.

nice kit .

that bracket is not very good very hummingbird. had it with 5 series installed . it always wanted to flop down , like a limp peter. did not have it for long. maybe my first couple of rolls had something to do with it , but i doubt it .
