I have had 2 sons in the Marines and have been on the base many times to pick them up. Will they allow you to go on base to launch your kayak. Are you talking about the beach near Sano or the beach near Oceanside?

Ill be launching at San O. In the morning and troll some mack around the kelp then im going to hang a bait out in front of the boobies

FYI...Beach Club road is open again. Gotta pass the warriors at the gate now to get to San O. Crazy busy at both beaches this weekend.

Where do you get the macks? catch them? what is needed to do that? Still a so cal fishing newbie!

Go to your nearest tackle shop and tell them that you need some sabiki rigs to catch live mackerel for bait to fish from your kayak...Mackerel youll probably want like around size 4. If you wanna try and catch sardines pick up some smaller ones like around 14.
