Yeah I wouldnt recommend a level wind if you plan to toss irons. It just gets in the way.
Shimano Torium & Diawa Saltist (20) are both great reels for tossing irons all day. I'd recommend a 8-9 foot Medium-Medium Heavy. Turners has some decent jigsticks in your price range.
