Here are some photos of the modified holder. I used white pvc for the photos.

Unmodified holder with a freshwater rod exitting out the bottum and past the seat

As an example white pvc tube was used for pictures. A small set screw was used to secure tube in holder.

Rod set in holder. The pvc was set deep enough for the reel to go below lock collar

Salt water rig clears seat by approx one inch close to horizontal

throw some Power Pro 65 on that Sealine's mono and you have a good kelp cutting rig
