Getting bit is a great bath room read. . .
Short and something new learned everyday.
Why all the books professor? why not write your own? mine's titled "how not to fish dana point for halibut" a local's guide to getting skunked on every outing. Look for it on amazon really soon. |

why all the reading? well for me it's about new idea's or trying new technique's.
i have a tendency to do the same thing over and over with the same results. yeah, i know there's a word for that it helps me keep motivated, just like the fish reports do. there is always room to improve and grow if anyone has in the gray that would be willing to loan? i would greatly appreciate it

I like to listen to the podcasts for Let' Talk Hookup when I'm driving back and forth to OC for work. Try and find the episodes where the guest is a captain. If the guest is a vendor then its usually more of an informercial.
There have been a couple of episode with Brandon Hayward and Greg Trompas Jr. that were pretty informative. |

Didn't know LTH was a podcast, thanks. For general good reading check out Spike Walker's books. They are particularly good if you like Deadliest Catch.

Not local fishing, but interesting if you are into novels about the ocean.
Check out these two. Adrift http://www.amazon.com/Adrift-Seventy.../dp/0618257322 The Story of a shipwrecked sailor http://www.amazon.com/Shipwrecked-Sa...8810504&sr=1-1 |

Thanks. At this point I can take all the pointers I can get. I'll see you on the water we'll plan it. Jorge just makes it look too easy. |

Moby Dick? I know someone who read that when he was 8...
Old Man and the Sea? Required reading. Have a couple First Editions, so does Clay... Hooked; Pirates, Poaching and the Perfect Fish (how the Chilean Sea Bass got its name) The Secret Life of Lobsters The Hungry Ocean: A Swordboat Captain's Journey (this will shock the MLPA kooks) Adrift? I agree, required reading... Or for local fishing tips and techniques, the other posts have nailed it.

Kon Tiki is another great ocean adventure. Not specifically about fishing, but a ton of great fishing none the less.
