Help with fish ID

I caught this guy the other day while rock fishing, in 170 ft... Haven't really caught him, I snagged him by the belly.

Sorry the pics are not great, taken with iPhone.

Never caught this before.

It's weird, the scales don't seem to be covering the whole side... There is that round spot in the upper center, and then the tail area that doesn't have shiny scales. It was like that on both sides. Or maybe the scales were there, but they're not silver - they were kind of brownish, or see through?

Looks alot like a Pinfish found here in the gulf. Excellent baitfish for snappers,groupers,and jacks...
