You may want to call before you go to make sure the lake isn't closed to kayaks because of the wind. Even with my extensive kayak ocean/surfing background, they still wouldn't let me on the lake with a measly 1-2 foot chop (seas)!

I'm not sure about Irvine Lake, but I have found Lake Isabella's 2 foot chop coming at you once every second with wind blowing 30MPH at your face to be far more harsh than a rough day in the ocean.

I called Sunday morning they allowed kayaks to launch. So I went only caught 1 trout and a bass. The wind picked up for about an hour or so around 10 then it died back down. Over all was a good day
