You Know Where 2/5/13

Fished off the coast today, Everyone doing the whole YO-YO thingy, which is not really my style

I tried it and after almost 4 hours of casting and cranking home,

The voices in my head said go fish Calicos in the kelp there is nothing out here your FF

Has been blank for hours,

No bait equals no fish they say,

I told them to hush up... I am switching to my confidence bait and thats when it all started to come together...

The fleet was up tight in a ball if one moved the others followed. Was the only yaker in the fleet at this point with a total of 5 on the water the rest fished further offshore.

I moved a little shallow and started doing what I feel confident in none of this Yoyo reel stuff.

Doing the Flutter and Wack thing that is owww SOOOO FUUUNNN

I like the green backie mackies for my fluttering covered in Pro-Cure, todays choice was Sardine, but they all work choose one they like them all...

Was flutter and wacking for about an hour and started to fine some bait as I moved in toward the kelp line...

The Voices at this point saying just go pull on some bass better then this open water stuff with nothing around...

I keep fighting the urge and keep fluttering and wacking the Luna Jig.

I start to notice some bait hugging the bottom and that is when it happened.

Dude way to go! Those Luna jigs are deadly if fished correctly. We take em down to Mexico and surf fish with em. Caught yellowtail off the sand with em!!

Nice work and nice persistence.

You hear them too? LOL! Yeah, it's kinda hard to ignore them when you have an hour and a half drive back home.

FYI:

Every report posted on BWE is then posted on www.fishdope.com

Loose lips sink ships!

Be aware that all reports are used in some form or another.....

OK, thanks for the heads up.

Its not a secret there has been a post almost daily that there are fish at a spot off the coast and there caught every month out of the year probably on a weekly basis.

There is no difference it was not wide open I fished from 6am-noon and only saw my fish with a dozen boats would not call anything wide open by any means of the imagination.

what he said ^ cant believe i have gotten shit for posting my first YT on a yak, sad how territorial everyone is, these fish have been around much longer than us and they will continue to, many many people pop off, break off or simply cant figure out how to get a bite, and 1 fish out of the masses isn't going to hurt anything. Sad how such a fun recreation that you want to share your success with others becomes so secretive and QQ. This isn't the first year there have been winter home gaurd catches? . There are few out there, that remember how exhilarating it was to get their first, that want to see the same feeling passed on to someone else, that spark. Sadly for the majority its an ego issue and they are the only ones that are supposed to catch YT and not post about it. Since i joined this site, i dont think there has been a single month where i didnt see at least 1 YT report on here, and the best/hardest fishing fisherman still continue to catch tons of YT, while us newer to the sport of big game yak fishing slowly learn and try to catch up, so whats the big deal? I know a bunch of those private boaters turn out to be disrespectful panzies that can ruin it for us, but just because you know where the fish are doesnt mean your going to put one in the boat, those guys that think they know what they are doing and disrespect the sport will fail and lose steam chasing fish like this. I could understand if someone was posting pics with 8 40lb fish that we all know some of which will go to waste. Just dont waste the resource, keep what you can eat and share your knowledge with those that are less experienced. Just my 2c.

Sorry this is my first post but I just started fishing la jolla these last few months and have never seen "a dozen" boats on the water, let alone all in the same spot, on a weekday no less? Last week conditions where as nice as I've seen and there where maybe 3-4 kayaks on the water, no boats. Now after 4-5days of people posting fresh reports on here you're telling me there are 12 boats and god knows how many kayaks? on a weekday? Sounds like the reason "everyone knows" is because of us posting fresh reports on this site. Even the kooks over on bloodydecks seem to keep their mouths shut better than us!
Hey next january to March there will be a YT bite at LJ. Just so you know!!!

PS there will be a WSB bite coming up, just wait and post over on BD.

Deal with it or get lost.

Regards,
Ryan

^^^^^^nice first post^^^..... Ha I've always wanted to say that. I love reading the reports and ya it does ruin the "surprise" sometimes for some people, but as the old saying goes, just shut up and fish!
