time to head offshore.... tuna...

I am an avid kayaker, yet right now.... yes, right now, if you have the desire, get on an overnight boat. Everyone on our boat (went from Seaforth on the Cortez) on Tuesday and since have gotten limits of Yellowfin. Just a couple rods and #2/0 hooks is all you need.

It is really on fire right now. It is like a lake and the fish are bitin'.

Now I am on a Yellowfin smokin' run. Still prefer the Yellowtail, but hey, sushi time again, and instead of Yellowfin chunks, I will also do many strips of teriyaki yellowfin.

Anyway, time flies fast. I waited for weeks, and finally went, glad I did.

Oh yes, we caught many dorado, only 7 to 15 pounds or so, and the tuna are smallish, around 10 pounds, and the sea is FULL of tiny yellowtail, maybe 2 - 3 pounds, or even less. We let these ones go, of course. Let's hope many find their way to La Jolla and grow big.

And after all those tuna, I still prefer the kayak, where I get to be my own captain!
