Since you will be using it in sand, you gotta go with the wheeleez type tires. The knobby type tires are pretty useless in the sand, but perfect for pavement or hard paths.

I've got these, and the big balloon tires practically float over the sand, even when the sand is all soft and torn up like it is at La Jolla right now.

Hobie makes one with the balloon tires if you are looking for a scupper mount, although I've always been a little leery using a scupper mount in the sand, because it might cause a little more stress on the scuppers pulling across the sand than using it on flat ground.

Whatever you do end up choosing, as someone stated above- support the guys that bring you this site as opposed to REI who donated money to support the MLPA and closures of our fishing grounds
