Yak progress

Here's some pictures of the progress I've made :
v
Rod holders and bait tank

Same but some glass work

A different angle

Tube for the rudder control line, inside the rear hull.

Tube for the rudder control line, outside rear hull.

That's it for now. Now I just need to go see Andy for a rear hatch and a stainless steel spring. It's not pretty yet, but it's coming together.

Looking good! Your rod holders made me think of a James Bond-ish kayak with rockets and other special weapons being launced from the cool yak issued to him by Q.

Keep the photos coming.

James bond-ish, typhoon class, ROTFLMAO, thanks guys, but that is just to funny. It'll look much sweeter when I get around to putting some color on it; but somehow I think the will keep from that step for a bit. I just gotta get OTW again, soon!

are you still going with the mirage drive?

paint it all gray, for that stealth look.

Yes, I have the mirage drive housing in the yak already
just need to do some finish work on it.

Paint it you say, no way, although I'm thinking about doing the hull in a kelp forest camo gel coat.

It looks good, just might be fast enough to catch some of those nuclear powered tuna on the way from the far west

Just a suggestion. I would get some ss eyelets and put one at each rod holder base. A thin strip of wood across the underside to give it some strength. Rod leashes keep the money from falling out!

Funny you should say that, as I was actually thinking of making another one when I'm done with this one (using it as a mold to make a mold from). But I'm not sure that I'll be in any hurry about it. in reality, I think I'm going to have to use it, to see what I might want to change.

I took it out a few days back, it actually floated. Other than adding a few pounds, I'm pretty happy with her, but I do have a few things to work on still; and she still needs gelcoat or some type of finish, but she does cut through the surf and glide across the water. I'll have to see if I have a pic to post.
