Yak progress
Here's some pictures of the progress I've made :
v Rod holders and bait tank http://i333.photobucket.com/albums/m...g?t=1302408307 Same but some glass workhttp://i333.photobucket.com/albums/m...g?t=1302408368 A different anglehttp://i333.photobucket.com/albums/m...g?t=1302408440 Tube for the rudder control line, inside the rear hull. http://i333.photobucket.com/albums/m...g?t=1302408527 Tube for the rudder control line, outside rear hull. vhttp://i333.photobucket.com/albums/m...g?t=1302408620 That's it for now. Now I just need to go see Andy for a rear hatch and a stainless steel spring. It's not pretty yet, but it's coming together. |
Looking good! Your rod holders made me think of a James Bond-ish kayak with rockets and other special weapons being launced from the cool yak issued to him by Q.
Keep the photos coming. Bob |
Looks like your gona have a sweet ride for your self thanks for the update.
|
Typhoon class Kayak, I like it!
|
James bond-ish, typhoon class, ROTFLMAO, thanks guys, but that is just to funny. It'll look much sweeter when I get around to putting some color on it; but somehow I think the :wsb:will keep from that step for a bit. I just gotta get OTW again, soon!
|
are you still going with the mirage drive?
paint it all gray, for that stealth look. |
Quote:
Yes, I have the mirage drive housing in the yak already :sifone: just need to do some finish work on it. Paint it you say, no way, although I'm thinking about doing the hull in a kelp forest camo gel coat. |
Ok I'm slow, but here's the latest:
http://i333.photobucket.com/albums/m...g?t=1303443567 http://i333.photobucket.com/albums/m...g?t=1303443567 http://i333.photobucket.com/albums/m...g?t=1303443567 http://i333.photobucket.com/albums/m...g?t=1303443567 Jim, does that look a bit smoother? |
"what does this butt.....doooooooooooooooo..." the hot rod is looking good...thanks for the pic update, I was wonderin how that was doin...:luxhello:
|
It looks good, just might be fast enough to catch some of those nuclear powered tuna on the way from the far west :biggrinjester:
|
Just a suggestion. I would get some ss eyelets and put one at each rod holder base. A thin strip of wood across the underside to give it some strength. Rod leashes keep the money from falling out!
|
That is stud class stuff right there...Does your wife ever tell you the brick planters are for holding flowering shrubs vs 2X4's and misc boat building equipment?
|
Kayak
You got some serious skills there, Lookin good!!!
|
mirage drive, bait tank, and rod holders. :reel: you are the man. hobie is gonna send a hit man.

Hum, so that meeting could be a set-up, darn! lol, somehow I don't think there a bit worried. |
I want to be first in line to buy this kayak when you are ready to buid your next one.
Called it!:D |

Funny you should say that, as I was actually thinking of making another one when I'm done with this one (using it as a mold to make a mold from). But I'm not sure that I'll be in any hurry about it. in reality, I think I'm going to have to use it, to see what I might want to change. |
have not heard anything on this in a while, hope all is moving forward...
or is it on tha back burner...or is it complete?:reel: |
I took it out a few days back, it actually floated. Other than adding a few pounds, I'm pretty happy with her, but I do have a few things to work on still; and she still needs gelcoat or some type of finish, but she does cut through the surf and glide across the water. I'll have to see if I have a pic to post.
