Reminder about LJ...

Just a reminder about getting into the correct fishing grounds and not being in the reserve. The white bouys you pass are not the reserve markings. The bouys are actually for the City underwater Park. You need to go another .2 miles west. Look to line up the palm tree with the flag pole. I've seen a lot of people out there who don't realize this. Education and reminders are best. Tight lines.

I have seen people fishing inside the white buoys

I very politely told them of the regulations which they were clueless of.

Let's keep La Jolla Awesome!

Shoot, I've seen ppl out making bait 200-300 yards before the bouy. Most ppl just dont know about the Marine zone but I've had several ppl get rude about it when I've informed them. Need DFG out there every now and then....

I usually make bait where I see others making bait because I assume we're out of the reserve but now that I think about it we might have still been in the reserve. To make sure I'm not in the reserve I will be entering lat & long on my gps. Thanks for posting & educating us 619 SD.

This is a set of commercial lobster floats along the border.

Line up the flag between the two "huts" (abandoned homes) by the street.

Stay a couple 100yds west of that and you should be safe. It's easy to drift back into the MPA.

Was there today grey stealth 12 made bait right at the point. Pretty sure I was out of the reserve as I was almost at the point, but if youre referring to seeing me out there doing something illegal then thanks for the heads up and I'll keep an eye out next time

We're so PC these days. I keep seeing these posts that "I saw this..." Take a picture of the perps inside the MPA and put them on blast on this site. They do it for johns hitting up hookers why not MPA offenders?

But it's tough getting that evidence. Even traffic cops catching you for a red light violation have to have a certain perspective.

No, you can catch bait in the SMCA that starts at the pier and runs north. No take at all in the SMR.

Over on Bloodydecks, someone did some homework and plugged in every MPA in Socal. Downloaded the file and loaded to SD card. Works like a charm with HDS. Shows boundary lines on your charts.

Not a great idea! You don't know if they're newbs to the sport, so how about saying something to them tactfully first and educating them, rather than turning people off to the sport.

I know we have next to zero freedoms now days, but creating a Nazi style snitch society is not something I'm in favor of by any means.

I used the app "Fish Alerts" and made sure my blue dot was outside of the marked zone

I second the fish alerts app. It will show you when you are outside the boundary and into the legal fishing areas all along the CA coast. You can also click on the restricted areas and it will tell you what is and is not allowed in that area. It works great
