Start asking for your day off Oct. 21 (wed) for BRTF mtg

We have confirmation that all BRTF public comments will take place on Oct. 21st, Wed.

No comments any other day.

We need people both during the day session and also for the evening session on Wednesday Oct., 21st. Especially during the daytime public comment session when the specific agenda item of Round 3 map will be discussed (late morning but come early to make sure your card is turned in on time).

I also received a phone call, verbatim, from a RSG member who indicated that the "enviro side intends to rally massively this time."

Nobody should be going spearing/fishing/diving on Wednesday Oct. 21st. WE NEED PEOPLE TO COMMENT ON SPECIFIC AGENDA ITEM OF ROUND 3 MAPS DURING THE DAYTIME SESSION.

Please plan to be in Long Beach on Wednesday October 21st. Don't let this be another Bloody Tuesday 7/28, when we were outnumbered 10:1.

Hilton Long Beach & Executive Meeting Center
701 West Ocean Blvd.
Long Beach, CA 90831

Warriors, come out to PLAAAAAAAAY...

I've got a buddy who runs a charter, he's tired of all this nonsense and told me he always fishes beyond the 3 mile range when he takes clients out.

Surf fishermen, they either don't know nor care.

It is up to us. It was intended to affect us.

To reiterate, we need presence. If you don't care to speak, someome would gladly speak for you. Just show up. That is all.

Bump. This is the one meeting we cannot afford
to miss. All meetings are important, but this has always been the most important.

after fishing LJ at the moyer, I can see why you guys down there fought so hard for it.

I fish up in the malibu area, and we're gonna get f****d big time. the area they want to steal from us is pretty much "our LJ". I mean, 'cept for the yellows like you get, we get it all there, and in a much smaller area. the main launch is a bit trickier than LJ, but usually it's good.

for us, WG2 is the best we can hope for, but I don't konw how it affects you guys. seems we're getting played against each other. and that's their plan.

we all gotta be there. we all gotta show that it more than just saving "my area". it's about saving kayak fishermen (and women!!) the entire socal coast. this is it guys, 4th quarter, a minute left, we driving, 3rd and long.......

we need a BIG PLAY.

Bump.

This post should never be off the front page.

We need other guys to make the commitment, not the same couple that have shown up every time.

No excuses. We have over 2 weeks notice to request time off work. This meeting is more important than all the others combined. It always was. The others were very important, but if we don't follow through it could all be for nothing.

I am for sure headed to this meeting. I participated in the "Save Trestles" Campaign and saw first hand that our policy makers sometimes do actually listen to the passionate voices that use, enjoy and take care of the places that we cherish. Do not miss this opportunity to make your voices heard, even if you are just there in the audience to show your support. The sheer numbers of supporters alone go along way and will not go unnoticed. We have to rally together for this one.

And this needs to be noticed. Touch on this statement, thank you dmrides...

Profound statement indeed...

Workgroup 2 is by far the best plan for La Jolla and greater San Diego. It's balanced - the conservation value is excellent, every science guideline is met, and economic impacts are reduced.

Everything stays virtually unchanged at LJ. The most resiliant kelp bed in the county at north Pt Loma is the one that is closed, and rightly so. Rare deep water rock is captured by the proposed Del Mar SMR.

The workgroup 2 proposal was assembled by fishing, defense and govt institutional reps with the specific goal of reducing economic impacts. There was no playing one group off another in WG2, just an intent to balance the pain.

That said, in the WG2 proposal Palos Verdes area kayak anglers would lose access to the Terranea Resort launch at southwest PV, an area that was only opened a couple of months back. They may ask the BRTF for an adjustment to WG2 or support another plan in that specific area. When testifying at the upcoming meeting, you may want to limit your comments to your own backyards, such as "In San Diego and Malibu I support the WG2 plan."

Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about workgroup 2's proposal. Looking at the big picture, by far it sucks the least. WG1 and 3 call for massive closures that exceed science guidelines in Orange County, Malibu, and other places around the coast. WG1 does the most damage to San Diego - I recommend BWE oppose it vigorously for the southern portion of the SoCal study region.
