I considered buying the unit without the transducer and getting one of the Airmar units but I have two dilemmas that I'm dealing with.
1. The outback does not have many, if any, areas that are flat enough to support a thru hull transducer. I'm sure its possible to install one but..........see #2
2. I plan on getting rid of my outback and getting a PA so buying a $175 thru hull transducer would not make any sense, I'd have to sell the kayak with the transducer.

Talk to matt about the jimmyz plumbers putty installation, you know he swears by it!

Just get the 50/200 skimmer...putty that mofo for now.... and then take it off and bolt that sucker on to your new 2013 PA14...easy!

They come with a 2 year warranty, but you just about have to take them to court to get them to honor it. Anybody using one right now, I would suggest that you goop the wire to connector connection. It is a bummer, because the transducer provides a sleek, solid uninterrupted water connection.
Good to know. I recently got one of these transducers and have not installed it yet. Will goop it to keep it water tight and from slipping.

Make sure when your disconnecting the transducer plug, what ever you do, dont pull on the wire, pull on the plug. Watch the wirethat goes into the plug, make sure it doesnt separate!

Will do! Excited to install and use it on my new HDS 7 considering the best finder I have used is a elite 4 this should be a major improvement! Unfortunately still have not got time to install it and go out yet
