I don't know what that crud is, and it is still there.
I just got home empty handed. Plenty of bait this morning. Water is kind of dirty. Maybe next time... Jason |

It sucks that guys without 4x4 (that know what they are doing) will not be able to use the actual beach but there are plenty of morons waiting to f' it up for the rest.
I was launching one day last week and a group of 4 guys drove 2 cars onto the entrance sand and exit side sand to unload their yaks. They backed up the entire launch to do their own thing. Two OEX trucks were waiting outside and I was waiting to get out. One got stuck and the other almost got stuck. Not once did it occur to them how selfish or stupid that was. Could you imagine if both had been stuck? No way in or out till someone came to their rescue |

Make yourself a set of Sand Tracks from a Milk Crate.

Billy that is pretty slick, I can think of a couple baja trips I could have used something like that, even with 4x4...

I dont think that sign alone meets the requirements needed to issue a citation for not having a 4x4. Although they could probably stretch driving unsafe for conditions but a 4x4 can be cited for that too if it got stuck.
About the "be safe" section of the sign. Will I be cited if I forget suntan lotion Last edited by prowlerdude; 07-17-2009 at 09:58 PM. |

Cool stuff on getting out of being stuck but back to the original thread, I saw this yellow stuff, too. There were several slicks down by Scripps pier. I asked a few others about it since I'm new around here. One person said it was huge clusters of pollen? I'm not sure I'm buying that but it did look weird, maybe an algal bloom of some kind?

I saw it both Saturday evening and Sunday evening. Also went out Friday afternoon. Lots of bait each day, no good fish caught by me, didn't see many others. I couldn't tell you what the yellow stuff was. Nice high tide last night so I walked through a puddle of it loading the kayak back up. Kind of nasty since I was wondering what it was.
