Central Coast Conditions?
Hey All,
Any of you guys pretty familiar with the central coast? I'm headed up to San Simeon to do some camping with my wife and kids next week. I was checking out the conditions forecast and found this: I'm going to be there Wednesday-Friday of next week. I was planning on going out on San Simeon Cove/Hearst State Beach & Leffingwell, but now I'm not sure I'll be able to go out at all. The cove at San Simeon is south-facing and looks sheltered; Is that cove sheltered enough to be an option? Is Magic Seaweed misleading me AGAIN?! Can I count on the wind and swell being calm in the mornings like we get down here? I've been watching the forecast in Cambria for the last few weeks and it seems like it's always rippin'. Best regards, Dave |

I went under the same conditions memorial weekend and the forecasts were wrong with respects to the swells. Bring your gear and be prepared to fish. If conditions get bad the fishing grounds are within 15 minutes from the launch.

Leffingwell should be ok. I would also check out Montana de oro. Fished there twice and it's somewhat protected as well. Surf can get up though as usual up there.

A guy at the NorCal Kayakers forum recommended Leffingwell also. Just so I can understand better what is it about leffingwell's geography that would make it the best choice?
