I don't worry too much about capsizing, I watch the weather, swell, and the wind waves and if it looks iffy then I don't go out. If I'm out and the weather turns ugly, then I head in.

I have a PA14, fairly stable, have a small motor on it to get me out/in a little faster. Unless I get attacked by a large shark (1.0% possible), or experience a tsunami (0.1%) or get hit by a sailboat/yacht/jet ski (10%) then I'm good.
