Fresh Bug Bait Report and Osprey Encounter
1 Attachment(s)
Had a couple of hours on the water to try and reload my bug bait stash so I took a right turn at the launch to try Scripps Pier. I found a steady pick of 1# plus Greenies (2-3 at a time) at the very end of the pier. After a while I look up and notice an osprey peering down at me. I'm not sure if he was there the entire time but he looked intent to get in on some action.
So out pops the eye of one of my greenies (the old shiner/largemouth bass trick) and back in the water it goes. A minute later, this beautiful bird is bombing next to me and has dinner in its talons. Someone with a quality camera can have a nice photo oppty... |
I thought I saw you, I was going to come say hi but you were going the other way
The greenies having been out of control the past few days. I've just been throwing out a bare 1/0 hook and hooking tree trunks on the retireve lately. Plenty of bug bait to get me through the season :D |
Thanks for sharing your photo. I grew up around the water in SD and I can't remember seeing osprey. They are in about every bay and lake in so cal now. DDT out-cool birds in. Mike
