Post em up! Fish Porn for those less fortunate :reel: and here's to catchin' in 2010!

Cool thread idea Andy
Is it ok if I google WSB
and post a pic?
Just so I can show the approximate size of the ones
I farmed?:farmer:

Iceman 12-31-2009 08:13 AM

Don, I caught tons of bitchen sunrises from different points of view on the water and savored every soul searching moment I had on the big blue. No porn star this year!

bigbarrels 12-31-2009 08:36 AM

Here is my biggest catch of 2009

57 lb WSB off La Jolla

Then I pretty much didn't catch anything afterwards in LA Jolla....the Curse?

Andy as you know I've only been fishing La Jolla for a year and only really fished it seriously for a few months last spring before the white Seabass showed up, up here.

I caught bigger fish offshore this year, even got my first local Marlin which I've been chasing for years, but even counting my skiff fish I still got to go back to this La Jolla fish from last March as my favorite:

http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/8402/91709440.jpg

It's such a beautiful and pic, (thanks Josh) My second La Jolla Yellowtail (caught my first that morning) I was fishing alone and found my own fish (Josh was fishing Halibut at the time, and there was no-one else out there)

For me it just does not get much better then that.

Here's both my first and second La Jolla tail from that dayhttp://img413.imageshack.us/img413/9341/double.jpg
I remember at the time you told me doubles like that are one in a million. I imagine one of these days I'll get bigger or more tails on my yak, but that fish and that day is going to stick with me for a long time.

Jim

I am pretty proud of this one, towed me around for about a day and a half. He hit a Humboldt squid on a carolina rig I had in about 80 feet of water.:reel:

it was a pretty good year, fished the bays allot, won my first tournament [OEX night tourny], caught my first WSB [juve in the bay!] and enjoyed setting up and getting used to a new yak. The picture is a Miramar LMB. Not a huge fish, but I am learning the LMB scene and I find Miramar tough to coax fish from.
Happy New Year and tight lines everyone

120 lb Yellowfin Tuna from my kayak at Hannibal bank Panama. Took over three hours to land.

I think I will have to pass on this one. If you combine the weights of all the "big" fish I caught this year the total does not come close to the monster WSB that Bigbarrels caught.

Maybe next year.

Thirties, forties not that big. The larger fish looks huge because it's really long with a huge tail but it was a very skinny fish so it didn't weigh that much for it's size.

Not my biggest but probably one of my favorite.....one of many Dorado I C&R on 12lb P-Line on the EAst CApe in Sept 2009.....the Dorado were a blast on medium action tackle! I can't wait to return in Oct 2010 for more:)

It was a wierd looking YT! 38 inches long and 40# 2oz. The guys at Dana Landing couldn't stop taking pictures of it on the scale. The meat was super fatty and some of the best sashimi I have ever tasted. I will post up what was in his belly.

Big fish are hard to come by....almost as hard as getting good on the water shots. Both take patience, skill and lots of hard work....the rest of us just get lucky.
My favorite pics from 09.

Not the heaviest fish of the year but it was the longest and it won the Moyer tourney.

Scallywag,

Where did you manage to find a place to put your fish after catching it? Your kayak is about as loaded with gear as any I have ever seen.

hahaha, i do look like im having a yard sale but its mostly beer and food (sometimes, when i'm on a mission i also bring an extra set of peddles, they do fail). I need weight up front to keep the tandem trimmed so it rides smooth and doesn't take on water from the rudder holes. The blue box is a oversize bait tank, then the soft 30pack cooler and the floating ammocan FF(the transducer is clamped on the side), the only thing in the crate is a drybag, game clip and some flouro. When i catch fish the soft cooler goes in the crate and the fish goes on the deck, kinda like this.... :sifone:

My biggest from the yak this year was a 45lb.http://www.bigwatersedge.com/bwevb/i...es/bwe/wsb.gif caught in March. To bad water got in my camera and made it all blurry. No YT in 09 for me but im not complaining as i only made the trek a handful of times. This year i plan on breaking the YT skunk. Here is to a productive year.http://www.bigwatersedge.com/bwevb/i...ing-smiley.gif

I got plenty of quality fish from my boat. But, this is a kayak forum. So, I've been hitting DVL this year in hopes of a lineside tow. But, all I was able to come up with is LMB. I got a few personal bests, but don't bring the camera too often. This is not my best but up there for me in fresh water.

Corey 01-13-2010 09:27 AM

This one was my biggest from the kayak in '09. A 49#er from last March
