Do You Have

'That Neighbor'

  • hey man, when you gonna bring me some halibut?
  • hey man, is that lobster? where's mine?
  • going fishing this weekend? Me: no, I enjoy loading this 200lb kayak so much that I'm loading it just for fun
  • hey man, if I buy you a fishing pole will you give me whatever fish you catch with it?

Someone needs to catch a new PB. I think you just described most neighbors.

I have a few of those. Neighbor across the street saw me cleaning fish and sent his son over to ask for some of the fishes "body". Lol. Gave him a few pieces from the freezer. Next day, while cleaning up the yak, next door neighbor comes by and hangs around until I offer some. I get the old "well if you insist." After he got some yellowtail, he was out!! Lmao

I tell all my neighbors I'm a shitty fisherman when they stop and chat. Keeps them from asking for handouts.

But it's also true.... So......

The absolute worst for me was when I was just starting out. I would spend 12+ hours on the water and come home dead freaking tired and empty handed to always hear the neighbors ask "what'd ya catch?" "nothing" I'd say, and to that they would ask "why?"
Maybe it was just me being exhausted and all but that used to really piss me off.

Your neighbor sounds like a stray cat. Feed him once and he'll never leave him alone. Good luck. Mike
